Speak Your Truth

Why do we get so scared of who we truly are. Of the fullest version of ourselves? Why do we often lock it away? Scared of judgment and criticism. Scared of our own potential. Scared of our greatness.

Maryanne Williamson describes this beautifully:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us”.

We have been conditioned to play small. Especially in New Zealand… we even have a saying for it - ‘tall poppy syndrome’. We are conditioned to play it small, to not rock the boat, to never speak up, to hide away our fears, our scars and for goodness sake never let anyone see you vulnerable!

This deeply saddens me. That we have been trained and conditioned to play it safe and play small. Because this is a loose loose situation. It doesn’t serve anyone. When you don’t speak your truth, when you don’t voice how you feel and what your needs are, when you please others around you at your own expense, all that is doing is pushing your light down further and encouraging others to do the same.

When you speak your truth from a place of love, everyone wins. You honour yourself, you let your light shine brightly and thats when you truely sparkle. And in turn, you encourage others to step into their truth and greatness too. You will never be judged or disappoint if you are speaking your truth with love. Remember,

“those that mind don’t matter, and those that matter don’t mind”.

Honour yourself and your own dreams. Give yourself permission to be the fullest expression of your true self!

Because you matter.

Love,
